International & Foreign Capabilities
We live in a world of international competition. Outside of the U.S., China is high on everyone’s list of countries of interest. We have a substantial practice representing U.S. companies in China, and representing Chinese companies in the U.S. Our experienced associate Frank Gao, a U.S. citizen, was born in China and speaks and writes Chinese with native fluency. We travel to China as needed, and generally at least twice a year.
Collectively, the countries of Europe are important trade partners for our clients. Our managing partner, Richard Beem, is a member of the EPO-US Bar Liaison Council, which meets two or three times a year with top officials of the European Patent Office (EPO). Mr. Beem also is a past president of the U.S. Group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), the world’s largest non-governmental organization (NGO) devoted to the protection of IP, connecting him with the world’s foremost officials, lawyers and patent attorneys.
Beem Law welcomes new relationships with US and international clients and attorneys. Consider the following ways we can help:
- Beem Law has extensive experience and skill to work with international attorneys to prepare and file U.S. applications (as a first filing).
- If a foreign application has been filed we will work with you to prepare and file an international PCT application or U.S. national application that claims priority to another national filing.
We receive frequent inquiries from IP owners outside the United States, and we represent both US citizens and non-citizens who are referred to us by patent attorneys from other countries. We welcome you to contact your attorney, who will forward your instructions on to Beem Law to begin the patent process.
We are always ready to provide you with more information about protecting your intellectual property. For more information on International & Foreign Patent Applications and more, please contact us at (312) 201 0011.
