How do I apply for a patent
Inventors may apply for one of two types of utility patent applications:
(1) A non-provisional application, which begins the examination process and may lead to a patent and
(2) A provisional application, which establishes a filing date but does not begin the examination process.
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office permits inventors to file patent applications on their own behalf, but it warns inventors that it “cannot assist in the preparation of patent application papers” and it “strongly advise[s]” inventors to “contact a registered patent attorney or agent.”
All of the lawyers of Beem Patent Law Firm are registered patent attorneys. Please contact the Firm for information on representation available to you for your patent matter.
